Prince William County Has Great Options for Commuters

Looking to purchase a home outside of the busy and chaotic environment of Washington D.C., yet still within a reasonable and easy commute? Look no further. Many families purchasing homes in Western Prince William County do so because of the great neighborhoods and schools but also because of the  variety of local commuting options available.

So if you’re thinking about purchasing a home in the area, here are a few commuting options in Western Prince William County.

OmniRide

OminRide is the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission’s (PRTC) commuter bus service. OmniRide offers Monday – Friday service (excluding some holidays) from Manassas and Gainesville locations, as well as other locations along the I-66 corridor. These buses drive to destinations that include the Mark Center, Pentagon, Crystal City, Rosslyn/Ballston, Tysons Corner, downtown Washington, D.C., and the Washington Navy Yard. In addition to morning and evening commuter bus service, most routes also provide mid-day service.

  • Manassas Metro Direct – The Manassas Metro Direct provides weekday rush hour service between Manassas and the Tysons Corner Metro Station. Stops include Manassas Mall, the Portsmouth Commuter Lot, and Manassas Junction Shopping Center.
  • Linton Hall Metro Direct – The Linton Hall Metro Direct provides weekday rush hour service between Gainesville and the Tysons Corner Metro Station. Buses stop along the Linton Hall corridor and at the Cushing Road Commuter Lot, then travel express on I-66 to the Tysons Corner Metro Station.

Virginia Railway Express (VRE)

The Virginia Railway Express is a commuter rail service that operates Monday through Friday. The Manassas Line VRE travels northbound in the morning (towards Washington, D.C.) and southbound along I-66 during the evening, towards Manassas.

  • Manassas Line VRE – Western PWC commuters can board the Manassas Line VRE at the Broad Run Airport, Manassas or Manassas Park train stations. The VRE travels northbound to the following stations near or in D.C.: Alexandria, Crystal City, L’Enfant, and Union Station.

OmniMatch

OmniMatch is a free ride-matching service for carpoolers and vanpoolers. Through the use of the PRTC’s extensive regional database, OmniMatch connects commuters who have similar work hours, origination and destination points. Interested commuters will need to complete the online match request form.

Commuter Lots

Western Prince William County has commuter lots that enable commuters to use public transportation or ride-sharing options. Commuter lots are available at the following locations: Broad Run Airport, Manassas Mall (near Sears), Limestone Drive, Manassas Park VRE, Manassas VRE, Portsmouth, and Cushing Road.
