Wine Country: Living Near a Winery

Wine Country: Living Near a Winery

You don’t have to travel to Napa Valley to sample high-quality wines. Enjoy Virginia’s award-winning wineries right in your own backyard. Home to more than 300 wineries, Virginia offers both visitors and locals a unique wine-tasting experience. Kick back, relax and sip with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, tastings held in historic manors or ghost hauntings told by a roaring fire. Living in wine country gives homeowners one more reason to love spending time locally.

Want to check out the local wine scene? Here are a few in Virginia’s Wine Country:

Fairfax

The Winery at Bull Run lies on 225 acres adjacent to historic Manassas National Battlefield Park. The selection of red, white and fruit wines are developed from 100 percent Virginia grapes. Guests can enjoy sipping wine with friends in the adults-only section or reserve a picnic table in the family-friendly section and bring the kids. In the fall, the winery hosts haunted wine tours that you won’t want to miss.

Fauquier

Morais Vineyards & Winery offers Portuguese-inspired wines based on winemaking techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation. Their sweeping wrap-around veranda offers magnificent views to the vineyards and plenty of outdoor seating. Bring a picnic, and enjoy the day sampling a variety of Portuguese-inspired Virginia wines.

Loudoun

Centered on a large farm on Hogback Mountain, just south of Leesburg, VA, Stone Tower Winery offers unparalleled views of rolling hills and majestic mountains. The Stone Tower Estate label presents wines that were grown, produced and bottled exclusively from their vineyards atop Hogback Mountain. Visit the Tower View tasting room to enjoy a gourmet snack while sampling an assortment of their wines.

Prince William

Established in 2006, The Winery at La Grange is a relative newcomer to Virginia’s historic wine legacy. Nestled at the foothills of the Bull Run Mountain, the 20-acre estate includes a restored circa 1790s manor house, vineyards and plenty of outdoor seating for families and friends. Tastings of current wine flights are held in their Manor House seven days a week. Be sure to ask them about their resident ghosts.

Stafford

Potomac Point Vineyard and Winery’s Mediterranean-inspired estate will make you feel as if you’ve just entered Tuscany. They offer several wine tasting packages for guests to sample their reds, whites and rose wines. After sampling their wines, enjoy gourmet lunch prepared at their Bistro, voted “best outdoor dining location” and one of the “best places for lunch” by Virginia Living Magazine.

Wine Country: Living Near a WineryNo matter which city or town you choose to live in amidst Virginia’s wine country, you’ll enjoy history, cultural experiences and breathtaking natural beauty.

“Belinda was an excellent resource to sell our home in Virginia Oaks. Her knowledge of the development and history of the local area and sales contributed significantly to the sale of our home. Her expertise in staging was a key factor. After having lived in this house for 14 years and collecting many items, she was able to declutter and make the interior even more beautiful. My husband did not recognize this house. Her skill in staging is readily obvious. Thank you, Belinda! Job well done!”
